Students can explore interests more deeply and become part of the fabric of our college campus community. Student engagement opportunities at Salem University include around 20 student organizations and 17 NCAA Division II sports teams for men and women. Nearly 25% of students participate in at least one organization. The benefits to being involved and engaged through our student organizations, include:

Students are encouraged to participate in activities that support co-curricular learning and socializing by becoming involved in the various student organizations available to ALL students at Salem University.

Campus Organizations

Salem offers a number of student-run organizations that provide a variety of opportunities for students to learn, to network, and to enhance their interpersonal skills, as well as providing a means for service to the community. Organizations on campus include the following, and are open to both on-campus and distance education students as indicated.

Biology Club

This club helps students become more active in the science community at Salem. Salem’s students learn how the principles of biology can be used to benefit the world at large.

Biz Buzz Club

Student organization which focuses on business and entrepreneurship.

Black Student Union (BSU)

The Black Student Union offers an opportunity to foster engagement and thoughtful discussions of issues affecting our diverse student population and the larger communities where we live and work.

Chess Club

Group of students dedicated to providing the University and Salem community an opportunity to learn about and play chess.

Campus Activities Board (CAB)

CAB is a student-run organization whose primary function is to plan and facilitate cultural, social, recreational, and educational events at Salem. While the primary service is to on-campus students, CAB also pays attention to ways we can provide distance learners with co-curricular activities and services which enhance their experience.

Community Service Club

The CSC is Dedicated to leadership development and community service. The CSC provides service to the local and regional communities with regular planned events. It helps connect our students with the citizens of Salem.

Golden Key

Golden Key is about more than just being good students, but excelling as scholars. Golden Key believes in the power of knowledge to transform lives and change situations for the better. Members of this club enjoy academic challenges and strive for excellence in their fields.

International Student Organization (ISO)

Founded in 1958 to address the needs of international students. Salem’s chapter provides international students with information to help them succeed in transitioning to a deeper understanding of US traditions, customs, laws, and language.

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship

On Ground Only!
InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA is an interdenominational, evangelical Christian campus ministry founded in 1941, working with students and faculty on campus.

National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS)

On Ground and Distance Learners!
Students are selected  for membership based upon academic standing and leadership potential.  NSLS offers regular opportunities for all students to assemble via webinar to discuss important topics and share thoughts on leadership.

Rainbow Alliance

On Ground and Distance Learners!
This organization exists as a safe and confidential space for queer students and their straight allies, as well as those in all stages of exploring their sexual identity. In addition to building a strong, diverse, and respectful community for queer individuals, members also seek to build a student body that pushes their own understanding of the intricacies of sexuality.

Student Education Association

Student Education Association (SEA) is an organization for students interested in the field of education. SEA welcomes all education majors. This organization holds regular professional development activities, community service opportunities, and keeps members updated on current news in education.

Student Government Association (SGA)

The SGA is a student-elected body that represents the opinions, ideas, and beliefs of the student body.  All students are eligible to participate.  SGA works with the administration and alumni association to benefit the broader university community.

Student Nurses Association

This association has over 60,000 members nationwide. It seeks to advance the profession by providing educational resources, leadership opportunities, and career guidance.
