Salem University cares deeply about all students. To ensure that students have a positive and empowering learning experience, Salem offers a number of Student Support services for academic personal growth, career development, and other needs.

Salem students have access to many Student Academic Success (SAS) resources including:

Advising

Salem students are unique in that they have direct access to their program directors, deans, and others to assist with academic, career, and other types of advising. Salem students can contact support@salemu.edu to get connected to their advisor.

1-to-1 Tutoring with Tutor.com

Students can take advantage of 5 hours per month of free individual tutoring, or access 1000s of resources covering over 150+ topics 24/7 through our partners at Tutor.com. Salem students can access Tutor.com resources via the Organization page in their Blackboard account, or directly via the tutor.com link in individual courses.

The Writing Center

Students have access to 24/7 resources to help with academic writing, research, references, and more! Students can also submit assignments to our writing coaches for feedback and assistance in improving writing skills. Salem students can self-enroll in the Writing Center using Blackboard.

Academic Coaching

Salem students have access to Faculty Academic Coaches, as well as Student Success coaches and advisors, to provide guidance on using resources, developing critical skills, and help navigating Salem resources, policies, and procedures. Salem students should contact support@salemu.edu to connect with an academic coach.

Virtual and Campus Library Services

Salem students have access to the Virtual Library 24/7 through Salem’s online classroom. On campus students can also access the library’s physical collection during open Library hours. The Library staff assists on campus and distance education students with resources, references, and other important academic skills. Students should email library@salemu.edu for assistance. The Virtual Library can be accessed through the Organization page in Blackboard.

Helpdesk

Salem students can connect directly with the Salem Helpdesk for assistance with troubleshooting technology problems that may arise from time to time. The Helpdesk is available by email at helpdesk@salemu.edu.

LifeMatters

Salem students and their families have free access to LifeMatters, our mental health and wellness support system. Students can access LifeMatters 24/7 by phone at 1-855-695-2818 or online at www.mylifematters.com. Use the password SALEMSAP for access.

Services include counseling, financial assistance, and legal consultation. Contact LifeMatters for assistance in dealing with stress, balancing school, personal needs, and alcohol or drug dependency.

Accomodations

Any student who believes they need reasonable accommodations, please contact student life or The Dean of Student Affairs. Reasonable accommodations include academic and nonacademic assistance.

Salem presents various career and personal growth-focused talks with alumni, university business partners, and other guest speakers through our Tiger Talks series. Check out upcoming and past Tiger Talks on our YouTube Channel.
