High School Students

Ready to Be a Part of Salem University?

As you start to look beyond high school, you’re faced with a big decision: which college do you choose to shape your future? After all, it shouldn’t be a choice you settle for — it has the potential to impact the course of your career and your life.

Salem University offers you the chance to have exactly what you’re looking for: an education that expands your viewpoint and prepares you to make an impact in the world, all with the support and community to help you along the way.

We’ve been dedicated to our mission of offering career-relevant, fully accredited higher education programs since 1888 — from associate degrees to bachelor’s degrees to master’s degrees — and we combine all those decades of experience with a commitment to quickly adapting our approach to the rapidly changing modern world.

We recognize how vital it is that our students have university staff and faculty that are committed to their success. It’s why every student is paired with a student success advisor, tasked with helping you chart your course, from deciding on a major to making it onto the graduation stage. We also offer scholarships and financial aid for those who qualify.

In addition to being located on a beautiful, 100+-acre campus in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia, Salem has a vibrant student life team that develops community-building activities throughout the year, centered around eight dimensions: Social, Spiritual, Community, Educational, Physical, Cultural, Career Services, and Emotional.

One size doesn’t fit all with education, and a full-time, on-campus program may not match the needs of every high school graduate or transfer student. Salem is proud of our history of embracing innovative educational delivery, including offering many programs fully online. We also offer the unique class structure of taking one course a month.

Salem University is a proud NCAA Division II institution, offering nineteen intercollegiate men’s and women’s sports for all those student-athletes interested in pursuing their undergraduate and graduate degrees. Tiger athletics are also an important part of our campus student life!

A key part of Salem University’s mission and history is our transformation into an institution dedicated to offering an international and intercultural educational experience. We aim to prepare all our students to be global citizens in an interconnected world, with the broad knowledge, multicultural perspective, and marketable skills needed to stand out as leaders.
