The Office of Student Advancement and Success (SAS), dedicated to the assisting Salem’s students to progress successfully and timely to degree completion, focuses on three areas of student success:
Student Learning, Student Satisfaction and Student Engagement.

Academic Support:

Academic Support at Salem International University offers variety of services to our students that include academic placement, disability services, study skills development, peer tutoring, success coaching, math, reading, and writing assistance. Students should see the Associate Vice President of Student Advancement & Success to seek out these services.

Tutoring at Salem includes peer tutoring and Tutor.com. Tutor.com is online tutoring with expert tutors that are available 24/7. Students can access help on demand at any time for a live tutor in specific academic subject areas from any computer or mobile device. Subject areas include: 

  • College Algebra Accounting
  • Statistics
  • Accounting
  • Statistics Finance
  • Economics
  • Anatomy & Physiology
  • Organic Chemistry
  • Chemistry
  • Pharmacology

Peer tutoring will be provided by upper classmen who have been selected by faculty/staff. Peer tutors will work closely with a student to help reinforce the information a student is learning in a particular course.

The Writing Center:

The Writing Center’s goal is to provide guidance and additional instructional support to students. Papers submitted by students to the Writing Center will be checked for plagiarism and reviewed for errors in grammar, spelling, sentence structure, paragraph structure, references, semantics, proper formatting, etc.
