BACHELOR OF ARTS IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE

The Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice (BACJ) incorporates a world view into the program.  The program explores both domestic and international perspectives on politics, cultures, justice systems, and crime challenges.  The program encourages students to explore the philosophy and history of the system to develop an understanding of its strengths, weaknesses, and continual evolution.Graduates will demonstrate the following:
1) A world view of the criminal justice process including knowledge of the criminal investigation processes, tools and technology.
2) An in-depth knowledge of domestic and international perspectives on politics, cultures, justice systems which affect the field of criminal justice.
3) An in-depth knowledge of the history and philosophy of the field of criminal justice.
4) Knowledge, skills, and abilities for employment in the field of criminal justice or for admission to graduate programs.

Students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice must complete the following general education, international focus and core courses:
General Education:  UNV 100, ENG 101, ENG 102, ENG 200, COM 104, ECO 252, ECO 253, PSY 100, SOC 110, HIS 153, HIS 154, MAT 109, MAT 140, HED 120, BIO 101, PSC 100, BUS 110 and MGT 361.
International Focus:  ENG 203, HIS 125, HIS 126, HIS 210, HIS 305, HIS 215 and ICO 100. 
Core:  CJU 100, CJU 205, CJU 210, CJU 230, CJU 240, CJU 280, CJU 350, CJU 405, CJU 408 and CJU 499. Students also must complete a general specialization or a crime scene investigation specialization.
