Salem International University is located in the beautiful town of Salem, West Virginia. Situated in the Appalachian Mountains just west of Bridgeport and Clarksburg, Salem is a scenic and culturally rich setting to attend college.
Close by, the enchanting Monongahela National Forest includes some of the highest mountain ridges in West Virginia and encompasses roughly a million acres, an ideal spot for hiking, fishing and camping. In October as the fall leaves start to turn, the annual Apple Butter Festival is held at Depot Park in Downtown Salem. This four day festival includes arts, crafts, apple butter judging, an auto show, live music, and is free of charge. As a reminder of the past, the Salem Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is made up of 28 buildings including the B & O Railroad Station, Salem Baptist Church, and the Post Office.
Salem’s rich and diverse history combined with the University’s many cultural campus activities provides students with a wonderfully unique college experience.
