Scholarships

You may qualify for one of the following scholarships!

Salem International University is committed to making college education as affordable as possible. In support of this College Affordability Initiative, Salem offers a variety of scholarships to reward academic excellence and to help eligible students meet the costs of attendance.

Undergraduate Scholarships

Bridge Scholarship

Students enrolled in distance education programs of study who are Pell recipients may apply for a Bridge Scholarship to provide support for continuous enrollment, three semesters per year.

  • Funding is available up to $2,000 for one semester per calendar year for which the student has exhausted his/her Pell funding for the award year.
  • Students must earn and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.50 to receive and retain the scholarship award.

Employer Reimbursement Matching Scholarship

Students who are eligible for their employer’s tuition reimbursement may apply for the Employer Reimbursement Matching Scholarship.

  • Funding is available up to $5,250 per calendar year on a dollar-matching basis with the reimbursement received by the student from his/her employer.
  • Students must provide evidence of employer’s tuition reimbursement policy and must provide evidence of continuing to qualify for tuition reimbursement as well as receiving the tuition reimbursement to maintain the scholarship award.

President’s Merit Scholarship

First-time SIU students may apply for a President’s Merit Scholarship based on excellent academic achievement.
  • Funding is available on a sliding scale for up to four years or degree completion as follows:

  • Students must earn and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.40 to receive and retain the scholarship award.
  • Accumulation of “Credits Earned at Salem” begin upon award approval or re-instatement.
  • No prorations of scholarships are allowed.

President’s Honor Scholarship

First-time SIU students may apply for a President’s Honor Scholarship based on prior eminent academic achievement.

  • Funding is available up to $4,000 per full-time semester; maximum $8,000 per academic year.
  • Scholarships are limited in number and are awarded with priority given to candidates with the highest cumulative SIU GPA.
  • To be eligible to apply students must have completed 2 semesters and earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.75 for at least 24 credit hours earned at SIU.
  • Students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.75 to receive and retain the scholarship award.
  • No prorations of scholarships are allowed.

Graduate Scholarships

Alumni Scholarship

Students who complete baccalaureate degrees at Salem may apply for an Alumni Scholarship to pursue graduate studies at Salem.

  • Funding is available up to $1,800 per semester.
  • Scholarships are limited in number and are awarded with priority given to alumni with the highest cumulative GPA in their baccalaureate programs.
  • Students must earn and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 in their graduate studies to receive and retain the scholarship.

Employer Reimbursement Matching Scholarship

Students who are eligible for their employer’s tuition reimbursement may apply for the Employer Reimbursement Matching Scholarship
