Vicki Legg - Head Athletic Trainer

Starting her second year as Head Athletic Trainer, Vicki Legg is anxious for the student-athletes to report to camp in August.  "It's great to see the returners and the new incoming athletes when they start to work together. It brings in so much energy.  You get to work with them as they learn, grow; become stronger and better as a team.  It's easy to get excited for the season to start," claims Vicki.

Prior to coming on board at SIU, Vicki served as the Head Athletic Trainer/Lecturer at WVU Tech for five years.  She was an Assistant Athletic Trainer/Lecturer at Marietta College, an outreach ATC for multiple high schools in Trumbull County, OH and a clinical ATC for WVU Hospitals.  A 1984 graduate from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education, Vicki taught in a private high school before returning to WVU to complete a Master of Science degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Athletic Training in 1989.

"I have had some wonderful experiences learning from sports medicine orthopedic surgeons and physical therapists in the O.R. and in the clinical environment.  Having hands on time to fine tune my evaluations skills has been a real asset."  Bringing those skills and over twenty years of experience to SIU, Legg is prepared to assist the student-athletes perform at their highest level. She is also ready to manage and treat any injury that occurs throughout the season.  Rehabilitation and preparation to return to their sport is accelerated with the use of the two HydroWorks pools and Cybex fitness equipment.  Working under the direction of the SIU's Team Physicians, all student-athletes receive the best in care.

Housed in the T. Edward Davis building on the campus of Salem International University, the new Athletic Training Room is equipped to serve the student-athletes with the latest in treatment and rehabilitation modalities.
