URBANA, O.H. - Salem International University's baseball team split a games two and three against Urbana University, dropping game one 3-2 before taking down the Blue Knights in the finale, 6-4.
Taylor Palermo was saddled with the game two loss as Urbana scored two runs in the bottom of the 7th to overtake the Tiger lead without SIU being able to answer. Palermo gave up both runs after coming in for relief in the 7th.
Emmanuel Dominguez and Scott Schlapinski were both 2-for-3 from the plate. Aaron Alderman came away with an RBI in the first.
Myles Swartz picked up his first win of the season in game two, lasting all seven innnings in the Tiger victory. Swartz allowed four runs (two earned) and struck out three.
Dominguez had a 3-for-4 game with a double and two RBI's for SIU. Dayan Lopez, Jack Humphrey, and Aaron Alderman all came away with RBI's. Hunter Bonner was a perfect 3-for-3 from the plate with two runs scored.
Salem will continue on the road on March 20th when they travel to Rio Grande, OH to take on the NAIA's University of Rio Grande in a two-game series. The doubleheader is set to start at 2:00 PM. |
