SALEM, V.A. - Salem International University's softball team dropped two games in Salem, VA Saturday, losing to California (PA) 8-1 and to Millersville, 3-0.
The Tigers drop to 6-8 overall for the 2013 season.
Salem came out strong in game one, scoring in the first inning against Nationally Ranked California (PA). The Vulcans, however, proved to be just too much for SIU, scoring in the bottom of the first and then taking advantage of Salem's miscues in the seventh to steal the win.
Brittni Hall picked up the loss, allowing eight runs on 13 hits and a home run. Courtney Kidwell led SIU with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate including an RBI to score the Tigers' only run.
In the second game, Millersville scored twice in the fourth and once in the fifth to take a 3-0 victory against Salem. Isabel Villalobos had the loss for SIU.
Salem will look to finish out the tournament on a high note against Gannon University tomorrow at 1:00 PM in Salem, VA. |
