URBANA, O.H. - It was a wild Friday in Urbana, O.H. as Salem International University withstood a late Urbana rally to take game one of the three game series, 15-12.
With the win, Salem International improves to 3-11 on the year. Urbana falls to 7-4.
The two teams combined to score 27 runs on 28 hits. Blue Knight starter Kosachook was chased two batters into the second inning as the Tigers took an 8-1 advantage. Joshua Karlin picked up the win for Salem, giving up four runs on eight hits. Taylor Palermo was credited with the save.
Jack Humphrey went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBI's to lead SIU. Emmanuel Dominguez was 2-for-5 with two RBI's, Aaron Alderman went 1-for-3 for two RBI's, Joseph Rufo added a 1-for-4 performance with two RBI's.
The two teams are set to continue their three-game series with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00 PM, weather permitting. |
