WASHINGTON, P.A. - Salem International University's was swept by California University (PA) in baseball action Wednesday at Consol Energy Park in Washington, PA.

Salem drops to 2-14 while Cal (PA) improves to 9-2 for the 2013 season.

The Vulcans captured the opener 2-0 and won the finale 13-5. Snow fell on and off during the day, game one was delayed for an hour and a half before the start and the second game was delayed in the bottom of the 4th before being called due to unsafe field conditions in the 6th.

Salem's Elliot Swiatly picked up the game one loss while Chance Sharp was credited for the loss in the second game. Swiatly gave up two runs on six hits while Sharp gave up the first five runs in game two, lasting only 1.2 innings.

While managing just two hits in the first game, Salem's bats got hot in the second. Emmanuel Dominguez and Aaron Alderman both had doubles, Joseph Rufo registered a triple, while Jayson Barnes notched a rare in-the-park home run. barnes and Alderman finished the game with two RBI's apiece while Rufo was credited for an RBI in the loss.

The Tigers will next travel to Urbana, OH to take on Urbana University in a three game series this weekend. Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled to start at 1:00 PM while Sunday's single-game is set for 1:00 PM.
