| Win: Elliot Swiatly (1-0) - Salem International |
| Loss: William Tap (0-1) - Virginia St. |
PETERSBURG, V.A. - Salem International University finaly got a few in the win column on Sunday, taking down Virginia St. in two out of the three games played on the day.
Chance Sharp (Yuma, AZ) got the win in the second game, while Elliot Swiatly (Lake In The Hills, IL) picked up the win in the third contest. Anthony Bariso (Tarpon Springs, FL) was saddled with the game-one loss.
"Our pitchers continue to do a fantastic job," said SIU Coach Shawn Pynn. "The have limited walks this season, which has allowed them to go deep into games with a lot left in the tank for the later innings."
"Most teams would be happy with the result this weekend but we want more," he continued. "We have played well below our potential and I don't believe that we have even scratched the surface (of that potential)."
"We hold our players to a higher standard. They (SIU) are much better than the team that has shown up for the past few weeks and they need to realize that there is much more inside of them."
The Tigers will face future Great Midwest Athletic Conference rival, Alderson-Broaddus on March 2nd and 3rd. The double-header on March 2nd is scheduled for a 1:00 PM start while the 9-inning game on the 3rd is scheduled for a 1:00 PM start.
