SALEM, W.V. - Junior forward Freddy Edouard drove to the bucket and scored on a hotly contested layup with 2.2 seconds remaining as the Salem International University men's basketball team defeated Notre Dame College (OH), 95-93, on Senior Night Saturday at the T. Edward Davis Gymnasium.

Salem International University ends the 2012-13 season on a high-note, improving their record to 10-16.

After trailing by as many as 20 point in the first half, the Tigers managed to whittle NDC's lead down to single digits when senior guard Kaa'mar Labrew (Brooklyn, NY) hit a jumper with 19:12 remaining in the second. A Jonathan Roper (Murfreesboro, TN) three with 17:29 remaining cut the defecit to eight, and after a missed three on the other end, junior Walter Brock (Brooklyn, NY) went to the line and knocked down two to make it a six point game. SIU was unable to get a stop, however, as Eric Dummermuth broke free for a layup to put the Falcons back up by eight with with 16:48 showing. A Kenneth McCornell (Cleveland, OH) layup and made three on consecutive possessions to even up the score, 57-57, with 15:45 on the clock. A Falcon turnover and foul gave Brock the opportunity to give the Tigers their first lead since the opening minute of the contest.

The final 15:00 of the contest was a back-and-forth battle for the lead, with 11 ties and nine lead changes. Both teams used runs throughout, with the Tigers claiming the last. Down 91-89 with 2:21 on the clock, Salem outscored NDC 8-4 to close out. Freddy Edouard (Queens, NY) hit the game winner, cutting through the Falcon defense for a layup with 2.2 showing. Notre Dame was unable to get a shot attempt up on the other end and SIU went on the win.

The key difference in the game was the second half shooting performance by SIU. After shooting just 12-for-37 from the field in the first half, the Tigers were 21-for-32 in the second half including 8-of-11 from long distance.

Walter Brock scored a game-high 31 points on 9-of-13 shooting, 20 of which were scored in the second to go with his also game-high 14 boards. Despite only two points in the first, senior Kenneth McCornell came away with 24 points on 9-of-18 from the field and 6-of-9 from distance. Kaa'Mar Labrew and Dexter Batts, Jr. had nine points apiece.
