SOUTH EUCLID, O.H. - Despite outscoring NDC in the second half, Salem International University women's basketball team was unable to overcome the Falcons' fast start in an 80-62 setback at Murphy Gymnasium on Thursday night.
The Lady Tigers (4-20) scored 40 points to NDC's 33 in the ladder 20 minutes evened the rebounding margin, but the Falcons used their first half lead to hold back the SIU charge.
NDC connected on 7 out of their first 8 shots, including 2-for-2 from long distance, as the Falcons raced out to a 17-7 lead over the first five minutes of the contest.
After scoring just four points in the first period, Porcha Davis (Rockville, MD) found her rhythm in the second to score 13 more points to lead all scorers. She was 8-for-15 for the game to accompany a game-leading 9 rebounds.
Inkera Patterson (North West, DC) had 12 points on what would become her 12th game of the season in double-figures. Whitney McCargo (South Boston, VA) and Shakinah Haggins (Lakeland, FL) added 10 apiece to pace Salem.
Salem will continued their end-of-season road trip with a game against Trevecca-Nazarene on February 19th at 6:00 PM (CST).
