SALEM, W.V. - Salem International University today held it's annual Convocation in the T. Edward Davis Gymnasium. The event is held each year in honor of those inducted into the SIU Athletics Hall of Fame and to honor the Joe Manchin Leadership Award winner as well as the Distinguished Alumni.
Charlotte Powell and Brian "BB" Boynton were the two former athletes inducted into the Hall of Fame for the 2012-2013 year.
Brian Boynton earned a bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Salem Internaitonal University in 2001. He was named to the First Team All-American squad for NCAA Division II in 1999, the first Salem International Water Polo player to be so honored.
Charlotte Powell earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Youth and Human Services Management from Salem-Teikyo University in 1998. She is one of only four women to earn the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Year twice, earning the honor in 1995 and 1996 and was selected as a member of the WVIAC "25 at 25" squad that honored the 25 all-time greatest players in the history of the conference.
