SALEM, W.V. - The Salem International University women's basketball team shot 29 percent from the field and 62.5 percent from the foul line in a 66-51 loss to Notre Dame College on Thursday evening at the T. Edward Davis Gymnasium.
With the loss, Salem drops to 3-16 on the season.
Junior forward Whitney McCargo (South Boston, VA) led SIU with 11 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore Inkera Patterson (Northwest, D.C.) added 10 points.
NDC (8-11) never trailed in the game, opening up an early 10-3 lead. The Lady Tigers would close the deficit to 33-21 at the half.
A Monique Hill (Mount Vernon, NY) layup got Salem to within eight (40-32) with 14:03 remaining in the second half, but the visitors rattled off the games next five points to keep the home team at bay.
Salem is back in action this Saturday when they travel to Cedarville University for a men's and women's double-header. Tipoff for the women's game is set for 2:00 PM |
