SALEM, W.V. - The Salem International University men's basketball team dropped a heart breaker to Urbana University on Wednesday night, 83-65.
SIU led by as many as 10 points in the first half only to see the Blue Knights shoot 7-of-12 from three-point range to up their record to 8-10 on the season.
Salem International (9-10) got 13 points from senior guard Raymar Porter (Detroit, MI), 11 from Kevin "Alex" Webb (Pineville,WV), and 10 from Jonathan "Darius" Roper (Murfreesboro, TN).
Just days removed from a 16-for-30 (53.3%) performance from long range against WVU-Tech, the Tigers shot a disappointing 4-for-22 (18.2%) against Urbana. The Blue Knights, however, were 10-of-20 for 50% on the night.
The schedule doesn't get any easier for Salem with seven (7) games remaining in the 2012-13 season. Salem will take on Cedarville University at the T. Edward Davis Gym on January 22nd before traveling to Daemen College on the 26th to close out January.
February has the Tigers visiting Cedarville and Rio Grande on the 2nd and 5th, welcoming Daemen back to Salem, WV on the 9th, traveling to Urbana on the 14th, and closing out the season against Notre Dame College (OH) on the 16th. SIU has yet to see Cedarville, but is a combined 1-4 against the others. Their only win against a remaining opponent was on December 10th against Rio Grande.
