OWENSBORO, K.Y. - The Salem International men's basketball team's strong second half effort coudln't overcome a 24-point halftime deficit in a 93-67 loss Saturday afternoon to furure Great Midwest Athletic Conference foe and NABC No. 9 Kentucky Wesleyan.
Salem drops to 7-7 overall while Kentuck Wesleyan moves to 8-0 on the season.
Senior Forward Waler Brock (Brooklyn, NY) made his 2012-13 debute for Salem, leading the Tigers with 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting and five (5) rebounds.
Juanito Moises (Dominican Republic) hit a three and then a jumper to get the Tigers to a 5-3 lead in the early goings of the contest. However, the team would go cold from the field as th NABC No. 9 Ranked Panthers rattled off 16 unanswered points and never looked back.
Jonathon Roper (Murfreesboro, TN) and Raymar Porter (Detroit, MI) had 12 apiece for Salem. Roper was 5-of-8 from the field and 2-of-4 from three-point land, while Porter was 4-of-8 from the field and 3-of-5 from long range.
Salem will play their last game of the 2012 portion of the season on December 31st when they travel down Interstate 79 to take on Glenville State College. That game is schedule for 2:00 PM.
