Salem, WV - The King College Tornado halted the Salem International University Women's Basketball team's second half momentum in a 65-45 victory on Tuesday at the T. Edward Davis Gymnasium.
Inkera Patterson (North West, D.C) was the only Tiger to reach double figures, leading SIU with 14 points and two steals.
The teams battled in the early goings, but King closed out the first half on an 8-3 run and went into the locker room with a 15 point lead.
The Tornado carried momentum into the second half, widening the gap to 17 before Salem went on a 13-5 run to come within nine (9) points (42-31) with 7:56 remaining. Patterson keyed the run with 4 points before Monique Hill (Mount Vernon, NY) hit the three to close the gap to single digits. However, King responded and the Tigers would get no closer.
Patterson led all scorers with 14 points. Allison Boss and Alley Sprouse fortified the balanced King attack with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Salem will next travel to Wheeling, WV to take on Wheeling Jesuit University on December 31st. Tipoff is set for 2:00 PM.
