Salem, WV - Juanito Moises (Dominican Republic) showed a hot hand, going 7-for-9 from beyond the arc, and the Tigers downed Lake Erie Wednesday afternoon at the T. Edward Davis Gymnasium, 74-58.
Moises was 9-of-14 overall from the field for a game-high 27 points, but it was his performance from long range that kept the Storm at bay.
Dexter Batts, Jr. (Clinton, MD) came away with 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting while Kenneth McCornell (Cleveland, OH) was 4-of-10 for 10 points. The two also combined for 5-of-9 from three point distance.
Salem improves to 6-6 in the 2012 season and are currently riding a three game winning streak.
While the effort on the offensive end was impressive, it was the defense in the second half that set the two teams apart.
Salem limited Lake Erie to just five made buckets in the second half (5-for-20). The defense also forced 27 turnovers which turned into 28 points.
The Tigers return to the T. Edward Davis Gymnasium on Friday to take on Kent State-Tuscarawas. Game time is set for 1:00 PM and will be on the air live via UStream.TV. Just follow the link HERE at game-time to see all the action. |
