Washington, D.C. - Lennard Hansen (Germany) scored a hat trick as Salem International University bested Gallaudet Friday evening, 6-1.
The win moves the Fighting Tigers to 8-5-0, including five out of their last seven matches. Their eight wins is most since the 2005-2006 season in which Salem finished 9-8-2.
Mehmet Dogan (Konstanz, Germany) started the evening off in the right direction, needing less than two minutes to find the back of the net with the assist from Michael McKay (Glasgow, Scotland). Hansen then scored in the 22nd and Jose Huergo (Gijon, Spain) scored in the 33rd with assists from Ryan Martin (Littleton, CO).
Salem dominated the possession again in the second half, outshooting the Bison 14-4 in the final period (31-8 for the game). Dwayne Phidd (St. Thomas, Jamaica) scored in the 64th off a pass from Javier Reyes (Perris, CA). Hansen the registered the hat trick by scoring in the 78th minute, giving Kevin Castillo the assists, to seal the win.
