Salem, WV - Salem International University's men's soccer team used a team concept and physical play en route to a 3-0 win against Point Park University Friday evening at Catalano Stadium.

Adter a defensive showing by both team in the first half, Angel Nieto (Quintanar De Le Orde, Spain) broke the ice in the 60th minute to give the Tigers the lead for good. Nieto would also assist 10 minutes later when Jose Huergo (Gijon, Spain) gave SIU a 2-0 lead.

"We prepared (for the game) well," said SIU Captain Dwayne Phidd. "We just needed to be focused and as long as we are focused we always play well."

Salem will take the next four days off before traveling to Erie, PA on October 10th to take on the Lakers of Mercyhurst College. That game is set for 5:00 PM.
