Salem vs. Chowan (NC) Full Box (HTML)
Salem moves to 1-2-0 on the season while Chowan falls to 0-4-0. "I'm very proud of the way the girls played today," said Ramirez. "They (SIU) showed a lot of determination after Chowan tied the game in the first half." The Lady Tigers showed that determination first when SIU keeper Whitney Brydge (Stuart's Draft, VA) came up with a save on a penalty kick early in the first period. "Whitney Brydge was key to the game." said Ramirez. "That save gave us the momentum to get on the board. She's consistently gives us positive energy." Salem used the positive energy not long after the penalty kick save when Inkera Patterson received a pass from Vanessa Jones (Jacksonville, FL) and found the back of the net, ending their three game scoreless streak. After Chowan's Anderson answered, the two teams would battle back and forth until going into halftime with the score tied at 1-1. The second half mirrored the of the first with the two teams playing more of possession game until Brenda Rivera (Pasadena, CA) found Bylski to break the tie. Jones would add another assist in the 85th minute, finding Alex McIntosh open to seal the win for Salem. The Lady Tigers will be back in action on September 11th when they travel to Pepper Pike, OH to take on Ursuline. Game time is set for 4:00 PM Game Notes:
