College Park, MD -- Despite equaling their opponents on the scoreboard in the final three quarters, Salem International's women's water polo team couldn't overcome the first quarter deficit, dropping a 13-8 decision against George Washington at the University of Maryland on Saturday.

Salem's Kerinn Fields (Temecula, CA) scored a team-high five goals. Vanessa Jones (Jacksonville, FL), Nazira Mukhamejan (Almaty, Kazakhstan), and Monique Hill (Mount Vernon, NY) added a goal apiece to round out the Lady Tiger offense.

Tre'Shaun Roberson tallied six saves on 18 shots in goal.

"We played really well today," said SIU Coach Robert Bullion.

Salem will finish out the regular season on Monday with a non-conference game at Virginia Military Institute.

"We have one game left in the regular season and then the Division and Eastern Championships. We're going to do our best to finish the season strong."
